Thank You to Arts AVL!

The Intersectionhas received significant support from ArtsAVL’s "Arts Build Community" grant program, allowing this community-rooted, accessible arts project to move from idea to reality. The $2,500 grant helped create a platform for people with lived experience of poverty and homelessness to share their stories, creative work, and perspectives with the wider community.

For API, this support strengthened our ability to use art, storytelling, and journalism as tools for connection, dignity, and public education. Intersection challenges stereotypes, amplifies voices that are too often unheard, and invites readers to engage more deeply with the realities of poverty in Asheville.

For the broader community, ArtsAVL’s grant programs help ensure that the arts are not limited to formal institutions or traditional venues. They invest in projects that build relationships, foster empathy, and reflect the full diversity of our city. This kind of support is essential because it recognizes that art is not only cultural enrichment—it is also a means of community-building, healing, advocacy, and shared understanding.
